About this test
EMG checks the electrical activity of muscles and how they respond to nerve stimulation. It helps identify nerve or muscle problems behind weakness, cramps or pain.
EMG is often done together with NCV. A fine needle electrode may be used; tell the technician if you take blood thinners.
