About this test
NCV measures how quickly and strongly electrical signals travel along a nerve. It helps diagnose numbness, tingling and nerve compression such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and neuropathy.
Small surface electrodes are placed on the skin and a mild electrical pulse is applied. It may feel like a brief tingle.
